Cut that shit out, seriously...
This was first a journal, but enough people urged me to make it news, so here it is.
I normally don't like to stir up trouble, but I've been noticing some things around this site that really irk me. Artists to be more specific, which I'm certainly not going to name. I'll break it down into a couple categories.
Also, I apologize for this being long, but I honestly think it's something all of you should read. It's important for not only you, but for the site and other artists.

IMPROVEMENT

There are artists on here, namely a handful of extremely popular ones, that show almost no improvement in their work over the years, yet people go more and more crazy over all their stuff.
I don't understand how it is that these artists can be satisfied with staying at the same level of quality and technique, and sometimes even regressing. Some of them don't ever venture out from their norm, and are completely satisfied with creating the same thing over and over again with the same, or

Protecting your DA account
As you are well aware there has been an active person or group of people trying to get our account information from us here on DA. What they want this for is hard to tell, but more than likely they are looking for credit card information or personal information that they can use to exploit our wonderful users here on DA.
So here are a couple of general habits you should get yourself to use on a regular basis to protect this and other accounts you may have.
#1:  Change your password on a regular basis.
This is the most important thing you can do to protect your account. Get into the habit of changing your password on a regular basis. It is easy to do and it can save you a lot of heartache in the long run. I normally change my passwords every six months.
How to keep track of them can be a bit challenging but there are some low cost programs from trusted companies to help you track these that are secure.
Coffecup software's Lockbox is one that tracks your passwords and keeps the

Protect Your Work, COPYRIGHT YOURSELF.
Copyright is a major issue here in DeviantArt, probably one of the hot topics you can't miss every single day. art thefts happen, and it's better if we protect ourselves ahead, and get the last laugh.
first, lets define Copyright.
What is Copyright?
The legal right granted to an author, composer, playwright, publisher, or distributor to exclusive publication, production, sale, or distribution of a literary, musical, dramatic, or artistic work. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/copyrighting
Are There Many kinds of Copyrights?
Creative Commons
Creative Commons licenses are several copyright licenses released on December 16, 2002 by Creative Commons, a U.S. non-profit corporation founded in 2001.
Many of the licenses, notably all the original licenses, grant certain "baseline rights", such as the right to distribute the copyrighted work without changes, at no charge. Some of the newer licenses do not grant these rights.
Creative Commons licenses are currently available in 43

Journal CSS Resources
CSS for subscribers is finally here!! Your local neighbourhood zilla is here to give a few pointers to the novice CSSers who want to give their journals a make over with a few pointers and a list of handy resources.
As a general rule it is better to keep things simple, not just if you are a beginner. Remember the following points when you design your page:
1. Mock it up Try your design in Photoshop first (or which ever app you have) that way you can play with colours and styles without needing to refresh your journal too much.
2. Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should... try to avoid making things like the text size too small. The current journal style works well, so just start simply by changing colours.
3. Contrast is good. Making the colours of your text and links the same, or very close is bad m'kay. Make it easy for people to differentiate between things. Also, making your journal text too dark on a black background or too light on a bright backgro

A Piece Of Peace
Introduction
I've seen a lot of articles about the recent conflict in Israel and Palestine, before that, the conflict in Georgia, before that, Tibet... DeviantART is full of people with ideas and opinions.
But beyond the politics of right and wrong, everyone involved in any conflict has one thing in common. Humanity.
I can't comment on world affairs or resolve them, so for you on DeviantART this is what I can offer you - a reminder of our blessings.
The small things that make all the difference without us even knowing... (in no particular order)

Artists Shouldn't Undersell Themselves!
I recently joined a wonderful little community here on dA for artists who take commission work: :iconhiredeviantARTISTS: .   There are artists of all mediums and techniques there, so do check it out if there's anything you want to have done!
As I've looked through the profiles of the other community members (and in various other places where people list prices for their wares/talents), I've noticed something that makes me sad and honestly a little worried about the future of selling art: a lot of artists seriously undersell themselves.
It certainly is hard (especially in this economy) to set prices for your work that are affordable for customers, and not too high to turn them away.  I also understand wanting to start a little lower on your prices to get your name out there.  But starting your commission prices at $1?  Or maxing out at $5-10?  Too low, folks.  Way too low.
First off, on a $1 commission, you're literally

Practice Zentangle Tile
I've done a couple zentangle art in the past, but this is the first one that I actually completed LOL.

This is just a practice tile. I drew it on my sketchbook, but I think it turned out well.

Tools of the trade: old 2B pencil (for the "invisible" border lines and the shading), Sakura Micron 01 black inking pen, Sakura Gelly Roll 08 white pen (for the highlights on dark spots). That's about it. :)

Zen Mandala (Zendala) II
As you can see, I'm not very good with naming art pieces. I always called myself creative but I was never good with names. Here is my second one. For my third and upcoming zen art, I'll be using a stencil or two. I used the following: HB pencil, extra soft vinyl eraser, erasing shield, compass, ruler, protractor, Sakura Micron 01 archival ink pen, gel pens, Cason Universal Recycled sketchbook

Zen Mandala (Zendala) I
I have been doing some art therapy for some months now. Here is my very first one, drawn on my old sketchbook. I used the following: HB pencil, extra soft vinyl eraser, erasing shield, compass, ruler, protractor, Sakura Micron 01 archival ink pen, gel pens, Cason Universal Recycled sketchbook

I've had this DevArt account for 10 years and I've never bought a single upgrade. I think I would if I'm more active, you know?
Cherry Blossom Little Wolf - Materialize Wireframe
To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Card Captor Sakura (1996 til' infinity!), I am reviving my very old Sakura x Syaoran shrine/tribute site. This is a tentative layout that I made of how the home page would look like. This particular wireframe is a little different because I am using new tools for the first time. The layout has been created using a CSS Framework called Materialize and content will be generated via a static site generator called Hugo.

CCS images come from the sources: CCS Omnibus manga series (Kindle Edition) and Minitokyo (for the official animation series art). The icons used are the default Material Icons already installed and ready made by Materialize. The "teddy bear" nav logo and the "CBLW badge" were created using Adobe Illustrator CC and base vector art from Freepik.

I am also writing a "let's build project" (LBP) tutorial with this site and the introduction to Materialize and Hugo at The NINPOJineous. Please come and visit! Thank you!

That is, 3 years of journaling absence from here.

And there have been a lot of changes too. I've gotten a lot more involved in building sites and trying to make my way to have web dev as my career. It's been way too long of a wait already.

My latest project that I opened is a "creatives" blog called The NINPOJineous. It is a journal of my creative journey, and I'm not just talking about art and graphics. I'm also talking about web design and development too, because in a way, they're pieces of art too.

That'd be it for now. Maybe I'll write again here sometime in the future. Nod

RIP my favorite artist/painter, Thomas Kinkade. Age 54 is just way too young to die. Let the light through your painters continue to shine, good Sir.

Wow, didn't see this post. My bad LOL XD

I don't know. I'm looking forward for that new season but I don't know about opening a new forum. I'm kinda steering away from all the forum stuff now. Maybe I'll just be a regular member or someone else's forum or something.
